Mietków, 15:00 This is the current situation on the dam in Zalew Mietkowski. The Bystrzyca River continues to flow towards #Wrocław . In some places it is flooding the roads and fields. The water is still a few dozen centimeters away from overflowing the top.

Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Austria and Germany have all seen intense rain from Storm Boris with widespread flooding. Thundery rain is next for Italy and the Adriatic.

#Wrocław main access road to Marszowice housing estate Yesterday you could still walk to the bridge, a few hundred meters away. Today the street is already closed. Water flooded the allotment gardens. Barriers made of bags were placed all night long at nearby blocks of flats

An elderly relative flies back today from an 8 day cruise down the River Danube from Vienna. It rained quite a lot early on and progress down river was a touch brisker than scheduled but they report having had a great time.

Does social media mean we tend to gild the lily? Weather-related events have happened since time began and sadly there are sometimes casualties and damage. They may be becoming more frequent, or is that just greater news coverage?

A big storm for sure, caused by a blocking set up, but like the rain we move on.
