@northwestsnow You can come out from behind the sofa now! Judging by the comments you won't be sitting grumpy watching Emmerdale, instead you'll be happy watching Emmerdale 😄

Main thing for me was looking towards colder days and something more seasonal with how mild it has been recently but to get some low max temps and the potential of snow is a bonus I won't say no to especially in November.

Allseasons-Si Good is an understatement there I think, wild synoptics for November, imagine if those Greenland heights and the Siberian ridge link up 😆

Mike Poole  the 06z gfs pretty much flipped the Nh profile from day 8 to day 16.  we’ve seen it plenty of times before but did those rely on strat influences?

just a note on next week - I think last Jan was a disappointment because the predicted low heights to our south didn’t verify. The troughing just didn’t dig far enough south. That was within day 5/6 with x model agreement as I recall.

The westerly shift in cold for early next week is not what we want and is disappointing - telling of a slightly weakening block. However at the same time -  the GFS is known for blowing up lows. So what I think we will be left with is a messy slack cold flow with potential for wintriness almost anywhere for a time.

The best outcome is for a slack cold setup to transition with the high rebuilding over us, which not only prolongs the cold but opens the door for further blocks going into December.
Based on past La Niña years with similar setups, my money is on this.

All eyes on the next few runs..
