Did it "snow" according to these reports?

Here's a few newspaper reports of "snow" that fell during September.

Highly unlikely snow at low levels despite it being (wrongly) reported as the airmass not cold enough during the dates listed. Probably hail, graupel, soft hail etc. Similar the case with an incorrect report of snow falling from mid July 1888.

I lived near Oxted, Surrey in 1962, and whilst I do not remember this event as a 12-year old, I can believe that a few minutes of hail/sleet (rather than snow) fell in the Surrey countryside, rather akin to 2nd June 1975. Perhaps this was a sign of things to come in the following winter!
