Hurricane Helene

Look at that structure  Not good at all for Florida.

Shes going Cat 4 for sure, pressure absolutely plummeting 

 

 

Note the venting of outflow north on the satellite below, Helene is in perfect position for her outflow to be rapidly pushed north by the jet stream, this is just as critical in aiding her intensify her development as the warm waters and high oceanic heat content. The Jetstream helps quickly vent her outflow away and allow Helene to pull up even more warm water/fuel from below.

Starting to see further storms around the eye wall - lots of lightning again. Definitely a concern over the coming hours - rapid intensification could be happening right now.

Vortical Hot towers are exploding on all quadrants upwards into the top of the troposphere and even above into the stratosphere, inside the rapidly clearing eye the air has begun to warm leading to pressure dropping even further. Explosive lightning within the eyewall only signifies Helene's growing intensity. 

One VHT has exploded to 62,000 feet

Hurricane hunters flight has just gone in, pressure down to 947mb

Strengthening rapidly to a moderate CAT4 the closer it gets to warmer-shallower waters, with Hurricane Hunters recording sub 940mb in the centre of Helene a few minutes ago.

A pretty surreal dropsonde inside Helenes eye from the hurricane hunters flight. Helenes pressure has dropped 5mb in just one hour. Dropping like a rock.

Been pointed out on twitter that data from one of the hurricane hunter flights shows the plane had a 200m drop in altitude  not a flight you have a big lunch before.

This is from a flight earlier, Helene wasnt even Cat 3 then and still looked like a bumpy ride. 

Heres the view from one of the recent flights, always love the view from these hunter flights.

Don't usually post on netweather but the lightning in the eye wall has caught my attention. This has to be a sign of rapid intensification continuing right? And is lightning like this normal for a hurricane like this for the experts on here?
