Weather-history With snow in May and a disappointing June, 1955 was surely the classic example of a backloaded year for warmth.

Summer8906 If you moved the weather of 1955 ahead by one month then it would have achieved status as the ultimate classic year with an extremely cold and snowy winter (the synoptics of February and March did deliver but one month earlier it would have been severe) and then a classic hot summer. Still, even without that it's probably one of the best years for UK weather for variety. Definitely up there with 1947 and 2003.
