Gosh 31 years ago now, mid October 93 was notable chilly with a potent northerly airflow which brought widespread air frost. Shap went down to -9 overnight 15-16th I think it was. The 11-14th brought a rash of wintry showers to modest heights in the north.

It came during a cold 5 month spell culminating in the very cold end to November with snow and hard frosts.

Any one have memories of this early cold spell?
