I don't remember this event at all but Philip Eden noted that it particularly affected Mid and South Wales and the West Midlands, so perhaps we were not affected in S London /  Surrey. This must have been a particularly difficult time for the people of South Wales, the flooding in the area exactly 12 months previously contributing in no small part to the Aberfan tragedy of 21st October 1966.

An exceptionally wet month. October 1967 was about on a par with last October and ranks as one of the wettest on record.

1965-1968 were four consecutive years with over 1,000mm recorded anually for England & Wales, so certainly a very wet period. Will we have to wait until 2027 for something drier?
