GFS throws a bit of beast up for Saturday.  Looks like the first proper storm of the Autumn. So next question who'll be the first name it. Eire met Office, Norwegian Met Office?

Candidate for Most Annoying System of the Year?

Will replace the brief window of cold and bright with grotty dull, wet, damp, humid clag so will certainly be a candidate IMO!

Seems to be slipping under the radar somewhat. Possible widespread damage on Saturday and Sunday for England. Scotland and N Ireland getting hit early Saturday into the morning before the worst transfers SE.

Agreed The Pit. I dislike really strong winds so hoping GFS is on its own and wind gusts are more like current predictions elsewhere.

I'd like this to verify to give me a bit of interest and something to talk about down here sinse snow is never going to happen.

935mb on ICON, if it tracks south though, could be some very heavy snowfall in N England, if it continues on current trajectory and central pressure, multi-hazard event, transitional snow far N England/Scotland, widespread gales with sting jet too I'd imagine with frontal boundaries looking tornadic but that's just me hoping for some excitement probably.

I think this is storm is going to creep up on everyone given the majority focused on the more wintry elements of this week.

Not looking forward to driving on the M5 on Saturday and M4 on Sunday. Combination of rain AND wind will be particularly vile. Disgustingly mild too.

I suppose one could call it interesting weather, in a crude sort of way.

Looks like quite an extended event over 3 days if the models are correct

And now with a yellow weather warning in place for rain and snow (or some cases snow followed rapidly by rain) for large parts of E, W & S away from the SE of England for Saturday through until Sunday morning. Could be interesting and perhaps nasty, given the strength of the wind and the number of people out and about over the weekend.

Not named yet winds slightly down but still enough to cause some damage. Lasts over several days so a proper storm not a blink and you missed it jobby.

A ropey weekend on the cards for sure, is it worthy of a name? That will become apparent, one to keep an eye on but it is Autumn after all 🤷‍♂️

Certainly going to feel tropical after this week's cold spell. Balmy 850s of 8-9C arriving from the Azores under a strong southwesterly looks to bring temperatures of around 13-15C by Saturday night! Flooding could be a concern in areas that still have a deep snowpack.

Weird to wait on Met Eireann naming it when those impacts will be Friday night and before dawn on Saturday for most. The UK will see their impacts during the day on Saturday

There must be a protocol between departments which dictates who gets to name it, I wonder if its whoever is likely to experience the storm first gets to name it.

All change as Storm Bert moves from Ireland, across the UK with wild winds, heavy rain and a spell of snow. Travel disruption seems likely. It will be milder by Saturday night.
