 Weather-history Interesting how potent that WNW-ly on the 1st was in Scotland. Just shows how much better the northern UK does in westerlies with any north in the wind.

This is interesting, a low pressure tracks further north than forecast less than 24 hrs later

 Weather-history Interesting also to note the change in forecast for the Thursday, originally generally wet but it seems the front was delayed. He says on the Tuesday forecast that milder air will move in, but the temp shown in the south for Thursday is just 6C and the chart shown before the recording is cut off does still show the northerly for Friday.

If I remember right the charts shown on the second forecast were more or less what actually happened, with the front on the Thurs/Fri very transient and weak and no significant interruption in the cold snap.
