Arpege certainly going for the jugular with the wind gusts even inland as is the ICON, hopefully both overdoing it as they do have a tendency to do so, max speeds across the duration shown.

Every forecast has been slowly upping the maximum wind gusts for my location. Met is now at 68mph gusts (with 60mph gusts for multiple hours). That's the highest I've seen be forecast for my location since the red warning from Eunice. I'm almost shocked to see the Met not upgrade the impact of the warning to the highest calibre.

Anyway, I'm gonna be driving to Minehead in the morning on Saturday to watch the waves - seems like the strongest gusts may coincide with the highest tides. Stay safe everyone!

Ian Ballinger   Ditto!  I was expecting to meet a roofer last weekend but he couldn’t make it - I guess the work wouldn’t have been possible this soon anyway.   As things stand the wind direction looks predominately northerly which is the least likely to cause damage where I am but if we see 50-60 mph sustained wind speeds then all bets are off!  🙄

HarvSlugger   Yes, I guess we’re in the same boat but our house is aligned east/west with the weakest slope facing south and we have some trees to the north so I’m hoping the gusts might be reduced below the potential maximum.  I’m not surprised the warning level was raised but there’s still a chance the models have over-exaggerated the highest gusts anyway.

Well a windy spell today later on which seems to be running behind schedule then the later fun starts tomorrow into the weekend. It looks like we will miss the worst of it as the low tracks over or close to our position but I'll find out during Saturday. Interestingly looking at the latest ECM hi res shows nothing much at all for us.

Tightly packed isobars on the sw/w flank with 1043mb of ridged AH , the occlusion looks rather vicious,  flow at peak will be nw/nnw  6am to noon , well over 80mph gusts with exposure to the windflow,  pretty much anywhere from Liverpool Bay down to Lands End

There is some disagreement between the UKMO and ECM on the exit point of the low around Midday on Saturday, the ECM is deeper and further North, the UKMO would spare the SE of the stronger winds during Saturday Afternoon compared to the ECM.

UKV has slightly upgraded the winds again!! this storm is different compared to Eunice, the high gusts with Eunice struggled to get in land in Pembrokeshire, but this storm, the whole of Pembrokeshire is 80+mph gusts unbelievable!!

I seem to be prime for some of the highest winds. Nothing unprecedented for this location, typically get 80-90 at least once a year here, being so far west with good elevation in the mountains. Places inland that aren’t used to these winds will see more damage.

Mcconnor8 its weird, Eunice was severe here but still hardly any damage but just like up the road there was alot, I think it's because I'm abit sheltered as I have higher hills all around me

Yellow for rain and wind here despite the mets forecast showing gusts only into the 30s, looks like they're covering all bases as they're still unsure on the track.

Ross90 Track is pretty nailed down now through Northern England, models in unanimous agreement for that.

The ‘Windy’ app currently predicts that I can expect maximum gusts of 98kph (61mph) on Saturday morning and if that proves to be true then I’ll be happy, given some of the predictions by other models.  🤞
