Liam Burge  Liam Burge I would be very surprised to see it to be honest (inland mid Cornwall here) the Windy app has a comparison of the forecasting apps as part of its display and UKV is far and away the outlier for wind speeds - and even that has downgraded its forecast from 86mph gusts to 71, where I am. Most of the other forecasts for us - Truro - are low to mid 60s.

It's still going to be hella windy and damaging, mind!

TammasinWhiskers Was talking about much of the cornish coast, not really inland Cornwall. Waves of 20+ft with gusts of 80mph+ is definitely a mix for the red to be added there. Especially when the whole Bristol channel has been warned when the wind-speeds for places along this channel aren't as high.

I would have thought that maybe the Amber warning would have been shifted east  to include more areas.

Liam Burge my nearest weather stations are Falmouth and Truro (I'm way more inland than either but that's what I got) so we get "coastal" wind speed predictions. North Coast maybe worse affected but even Bude's been downshifted by a couple mph this morning.

I'm as surprised as you are to be honest!

Liam Burge I fully agree Liam.. I'm on the Kent/Sussex Borders.. I've offered Daughter (passed driving test in April) that I will drive her to and fro work.  Thing is, younger folk don't always realise the dangers of extreme weather.  It's always best to err on the side of caution.

Karl83 oh dear. Just as it's got busy again as co.s demand a return to the offices. Noticeable last few months, especially.

Given the funnel effect of the seven estuary and the red covering the large conurbation of Bristol and the m4/m5 motorway  intersection this could be very impactfull for those areas as well as Wales of course...people in those areas need to take this seriously and do what they can to be safe asap and absolutely don't travel if at all possible...here in the south east still expecting notable wind but nothing like further west..take care everyone...

Skullzrulerz I'm really surprised that Cornwall and all of the Devon coasts aren't included given that the forecast wind gusts are the same as those areas already in the red. Seems like something of an oversight.

Sidsnake 40 to 50 mph winds quite likely looking at some of the high resolution models ...maybe a bit more in exposed or areas where the wind is funneled...be mindfull of fallen or falling trees particularly as the ground is saturated...good thing is most of the leaves should be down by now so that should take some of the wind pressure off the trees...take care.....the nw to northerly wind as the low pulls away south east could also pack a punch...

minus10 yup, thanks so much, this is what I'm worried about, she says she'll be fine but I don't want to be dealing with rescue missions tomorrow evening.  I've just told her we will keep an eye on forecasts and assess tomorrow.

20-something mph winds, with 40-something mph guests forecast for your part of Kent tomorrow, across all of the major models. I think you’ll be ok.

I'm in the South East - west London, planning on driving down to East Sussex tomorrow - I'm not sure if I should worry about the storm over this way or not?
