Mods, I'm posting this in the model section as it sort of relates! Move post however as wasn't sure if to do it here or lounge.

-----

Jff and a bit of a laugh but for it to have a chance at working, I need all of you to help get this off the ground! So..

As I'm sure most of us, if not all of us - read the model discussion thread we know there are recurring phrases and words that appear every winter. Some of these we love, some we loathe. You're already thinking of both types of those words aren't you! Perfect 😁

These have become what has been affectionately called bingo. (I love how a forum like this can come up with terms that just stick... BFTE for example!)

With a big enough list, I'm going to see if I can create some game cards based on that list and SOMEHOW devise a way to randomise the cards + words and post them on here or into participants message inbox or somewhere for us all to have fun with..

I will hopefully have bingo cards done soon but because I've not quite worked this out fully just yet it will give me something to figure out while you're all (hopefully) flooding the replies with the words you want to be added.  I've a few ideas in mind on how to make this work but will be dependent on how many words we come up with.

What I am after is as MANY of these words as you can possibly remember seeing or use yourself.  And by as many as possible, I do literally mean that!  The more words the better!!!!  If we can run into triple digits, go for it!   I'm around 60 right now from this winter....

A couple of guidelines however!

The words should be from the model output discussion threads/posts, as that's where the idea originated and where we can get our cards marked off from.

If the words are part of a "set", I'm thinking of splitting them..  Example :  beast from the east becomes beast / east, but I'll also include the full set just for a fuller set of words.

If there are letters for words, please also include the words as well as the letters. Not only will this give a more complete set of words to use for bingo, but will also help others in probably learning terms etc at the same time. See, fun and still educational 🤓

For example : NAO  North Atlantic Oscillation

So, with that in mind! And what might be a headache for me in the near future😭😄 I await those words.

My current list is as follows:

North Atlanic Oscillation

Many years ago a certain @Osbourne One-Nilinstigated a game on here similar to the BBC Radio 4 institution that is, "I'm sorry I haven't a clue", whereby a couple of letters in a phrase are swapped out... This thread is remiscent of such frolics with a few suggestions:

Greenland Nigh

More nuns needed

Iberian Sigh

Beast from the Yeast

Thames Dreamer

etc.

Nice to see some humour in these AGW times!

Channel streamer

Kent Streamer

North Sea streamer

Thames streamer

(probably missing some?)

Oooo... I'm liking the bonus points idea!!!

lottiekent WYORKSWEATHER beat you to the actual word, but defining which streamer is great!!

Thank you all for these really good suggestions.  Added these all as well!

Also, as a side note - where on earth do we all think and come up with such terms?  I've had a good chuckle at some of these so far😄
