Mcconnor8 well that's just not on! Lol. Naughty eowyn

Bloody hell I've invested just about as much time on this storm as I did when we had the cold spell. You'd think I was actually excited about it, I'm not, it's the opposite lol.. I just can't stop myself!

GreyCrag Warnscale has seen its storms over the decades. Amazing place. Still a bit bonkers to go but fully understand their (un)reasoning.

So the harmonie updates every hour as we know. I presume the dark colouring means it's higher than the scale allows is it? My location is primed yet again!!

I’ll be shocked if a red isn’t issued for the central belt. ICON max gusts are insane for 15z Friday. Populated areas during the day, M74/M8/M9/bridges/city bypass/ A1 are all going to be hairy

Granted it’s just one run, but good grief. Hurricane Bawbag territory. Rapid cyclogenesis and maybe a sting jet?

Max gusts of 93 in Glasgow, 88 in Edinburgh and 85 in Newcastle is one for the history books. It’s gonna do damage. Take care all.

Looks like we are in the 50 to 60mph zone. So missing the worst of it. Looks like the central belt will be relocated to Norway and Sweden by the end of the evening.

Genuinely haven’t been this concerned r.e. a storm since Arwen. Isha had a wide path with strong gusts, Arwen was over a smaller area but more intense if memory serves me right. Both night storms so most folk indoors thankfully.

Daytime between 12z and 18z, on a Friday too, plenty of folks on half days including the schools. Has to be red, no other option.

MOGREPS 0z ensembles for Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle..

Eowyn The ECM sustained wind speed just off the coast of Ireland forecast to.be over 102mph, well into Cat 2 territory if compared to a hurricane and not far from Cat 3. Unprecedented in recent times, even when compared with Ophelia.

Other models comfortably Cat 1 equivalent.

Bats32 100%, anywhere from the west coast to the east coast right through the central belt. Looks to the untrained eye like a sting jet on some charts. I hope people heid the warnings with this one. Doesn’t happen all that often in this part of the world. Maybe once in a 10 year event, with speeds like this over a wide area

Polar Stratospheric Really, take my location for example .A lowland storm in South Worcestershire back on January 2nd 1976. Winds over 100 mph around this area, with many fatalities, and most of it was over night ! I don't think the wind has ever been that strong since then....😰😲

Looking at the GFS 0z Op, the lowest pressure seems to be around 930mb about 100 miles North of Malin Head at 9am on Friday.
