I've tried doing research on the summer of 1995 yet most footage I can recieve is that off 1976 especially in terms of drought footage and fire reports, anyone have anything? Searched all over youtube and google yet so far barely anything related to the summer of that year

That's probably because everyone was busy out enjoying the weather! 😆

The summer of 1995 was one of the hottest and driest on record

Only one on a google search at the moment.

Off topic a bit but I think this is the most pleasant summer the UK has ever had 1976 pleases me but was a bit extreme for some people with 2 weeks straight of 32+ but 1995 seems to just be consistent 25-29 degrees for 8 weeks straight with only minor jumps.

I was working in Leeds that summer and remember water leaks and shortages being a major issue. Googling 'water shortages 1995' provides some interesting and relevant confirmation of this.

Mad as it seems the Hills around my hometown of Halifax boast more resevoirs than anywhere in the country unfortunately they supply cities like Wakefield and only a handful fed Halifax which ran dangerously low. Those with good memories will remember on national news hundreds of lorry tankers driving around the clock for weeks bringing water to Halifax until the drought subsided.

Here's an article on the water shortages in West Yorkshire during the summer of 1995:

https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/how-people-west-yorkshire-were-left-high-and-dry

In 1976 the water companies could be forgiven for requiring hose pipe bans and the likes, because there had been a long spell of generally dry months starting in May 1975, and in particular 1975/76 was a dry winter. But in 1995, there wasn't much of an excuse really, because the winter of 1994/95 had been very wet (for example, it was Leeds that got hit with a surprise 40cm snowfall on 25 January 1995), and while spring 1995 was dry, it wasn't exceptionally so, so they contrived to lose a lot of water come the back end of the summer.
