Hi

here its a barmy 12.8C and just stopped raining.

whilst here, Jan Meyen; about 800 miles north of Scotland its Ms7C with visibility 500Metres in a heavy snow shower!!

and here, at Thorshaven only 250 miles north of Scotland its raining with a temperature of 3.2C and a moderate ese'ly wind with the barometer falling 2.7mb in the past 3 hours.

Why show these?

Well Jan Meyen is in a direct line north-south for when the real arctic air hits the UK later on Thursday, Thorhaven is that much closer and is already showing a pressure fall ahead of the low which is the 'trigger' mechanism for our northerly, however long or short it may be.
