Snowing lightly in Gateshead now although it is not settling.

I was passing through Consett earlier ( foothills of north pennines ) and there was a covering of around 2-3cm there. The pennines looked very snowy.

It was snowing here 8 this morning, nothing really of note, gave us a slight dusting, this soon melted away, around 10:45 snowed rather heavily, on and off, it then snowed very heavily for around three quaters of an hour giving a good covering, about 3cms of snow fell, very nice surprise indeed, it stopped snowing around 2:30 it is now beggining to turn rather slushy because of the ammount of people walking on it, very nice though indeed, especially walking around christmas shopping, felt very festive indeed!

Very light flurries on and off all morning then at 12.15 it started to snow and for the next 90 mins, it was like being in an arctic blizzard, massive flakes being blown sideways by the wind.

This left about 1cm of lying snow at 300 meters but at lower levels there is just a dusting. Much more snow than the occasional rain/sleet that they forcast! :)

Wow, big huge flakes and laying about 2 hours ago. I was getting quite worried for a while as it started to lay but then it turned to rain after about 1/2 hour :)

And I'd like to back up what the right honourable gentleman from my local constituency just stated, pretty much exactly the same in my neck of the woods Snow Man - but it has turned slushy now.

ditto - at least it gets added to the snow league, i'm glad i'm not compiling that today!

Sorry for being dense....I'm a bit new.

Is posting a report here all that's needed to get in the snow league?

Very heavy snow, but it is quite wet, sticking to grass and roads quite well. Thats at 350m ASL, at my parents which is 150m ASL and 4 miles east it is sleeting.

I think so, I never told anyone about my sprinkling last month apart from a post in here and it was added :)

I didn't think I'd be posting this today. Yep, snow in Norwich!

Left work at 5pm, walked out the door and thought 'what was that tickle my ear!' Yep a few flakes of snow, which eventually turned into wet snow/sleet.

Now stopped, nothing stuck, but if it freezes tonight.....geeze I'm not looking forward to the drive (make that slide) into work tomorrow.

Marvellous, what could be better, trailing round the shops in Harrogate doing my Christmas shopping with big fat flakes of snow falling....this is what Christmas is all about...

Sadly it turned to rain later.

That is what happened here, though there is still some of it lying around.

Though it is frozen solid as we have had yet another hard frost last night.

Yesterday when I set off for work at lunch time, it was almost blizzard conditions up here.

Then when I got to work it was raining and there was no sign of snow on the ground.

It is amazing what difference a few hundred feet can make when it comes to snow.
