Weather Alert

Category: Level 2 Warning

Weather type: Severe Gales.

Affecting: Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England and Wales.

Time and Date Valid For: 06:00 - 23:59 Wednesday 05th January 2005

Time Of Issue: 17.25 Tuesday 04th January 2005.

Another active cold front is expected to move southeast across the UK during Wednesday as a deep low passes to the north of Scotland. This will bring another spell of heavy rain with gale or severe gale force winds, especially in the north.

Southwesterly winds ahead of the front will become gale to severe gale force with gusts of up to 70MPH possible across northern and western parts of Britain, especially in the areas listed above.

With these severe gales comes the increased risk of distruption to travel, risk of structural damage, and the chance of falling trees.

Please take extra care if you have to venture out.

Expect further updates as and when is necessary.

Further gales or severe gales are likely at time during the rest of the week, but we will issue any necessary alerts if needed nearer the time and when we know more.
