just finished my shift and i had no choice but to drive up the dotted line to leave a buffer zone on sheffield parkway.. and that was with a single deck bus!! had a decker early evening and had to pull over for a few minutes around rother valley park area.. the wind was snatching the steering too much..

its bad out there.. its gusting rather than being a constant force..

if its as bad in the morning.. i would advise everyone to stay indoors..

Currently mean wind is 42 mph, gusting to 66. Max gust so far is 73.

This is just an average winter gale here and wouldn't make the top 20.

Whilst I agree that it's been relatively ok here in Devon, and less severe than I expected, there is a real whip in the tail across the NW at the moment, and this may affect you soon. A gust of 104 mph was recorded at St Bees head at 7 am. That's not really non-event stuff! <_<

Only a little rain here, 0.6mm, winds gusting over 60mph as front went thro' around 6-6.30am, barometer rising rapidly, dewpoint going down, wind veering, so it looks like the cold front has gone thro' here. temp has been up to 12C overnight, now down to 8C

hope evryone is okay in the 'nasty' areas for the night's storm.

Weather obs - Bright 50% cloud cover - cumulus and cumulonimbus

Wet snow and hail shower passed through at 10.10am with west wind gusting at about 40 kts.

Temp is 3.7c at 11:00

Visibility over 20kms

Strong gales overnight but not much damage - mostly branches down and one cottage with roof slate dislodged.

We are near TM and as such experience winter gales often - anything susceptible is damaged - trees etc - so it always appears a bit of a non event.
