Time Of Issue: 23.30 Saturday 08th January 2005.

An deep area of low pressure is expected to effect parts of the UK late Sunday afternoon and overnight into Monday. Although some uncertainty remains it is likely Northern Ireland and Northern and Western Scotland may see the worst conditions associated with this storm.

Wind speeds will increase throughout the afternoon across many areas and coastal gales are likely across Western coasts of England and Wales, however Northern Ireland and Western Scotland will see further strengthening in the winds and gusts between 65-70mph are possible across exposed areas, especially in association with the passage of a cold front overnight Sunday.

The main risk from the storm system maybe the potential for 50mm of rain especially in Northern Ireland, Western Scotland and possibly parts of Northern England. This will not help to current flooding problems.
