had a spell of fairly heavy snow just now, lasted 15 mins and started as rain, then turned to asnow in a few seonds, like the 28th January event all over again, although nowehere near as intense...still left the grass whitre and the roofs were starting to turn white as well.

hazard a guess that it dumped 1/2 a CM on the grass.

just for Paul S,here is what I've in the last 3 days.

1:sleet

2:sleet shower

3:snow shower

4:snow shower

5snow shower, settling with 0.5 cms on grass(which is the first snow I've seen during the day for 2 years!)

Nothing to report that's falling from the sky, but there are a few patches remaining in the shade here, which haven't melted at all. The hills are still covered in snow a few inches deep which again hasn't melted at all. :D

Light snow showers from about 0500 until 1030 this morning, a very thin scattering of snow by 0930. One or two very light snow showers early this afternoon.

From 0800 to 0900 there was light/moderate snow in Derby, didnt settle though and very unexpected as Derby is about as much inland from the East Coast as you can get. 1300 very slight snow shower not worth mentioning really.

Today was beautifully crisp and sunny, and in the shaded hillsides hills are virtually still covered in snow, up to a few inches deep after saturday's fall, snow patches remain in shade and may well do tonight too.
