We had blizzard like conditions here in north Essex. It has settled and this thumbnail is a photo of it in our back garden. Looking north, there is more coming!

Sleeting here. It was raining before so hopefully it will turn to snow.

Has turned to a very heavy 'wintry' (sleet) shower with gusting winds.

I would expect it would of been snow a little higher up.

Height of excitment up here in NW Yorks. At least 45 minutes of more or less continuous snow eddies: I cannot in my life remember such a sustained spell of such light and inconsequential snowfall: don't think it ever got above 1.5 on the Strat(m)os snow intensity scale (we must have caught the very edge of the feature moving S to the W of the country). Wind was NW but soon veered around once the snow had passed. Last evening's sleet obviously fell as snow above about 1500'. The distant tops of Whernside are dusted, and Ingleborough (2200' or so) is, if not a glittering jewel, certainly sugar coated.

Strangely enough Essex seems to be doing very well from this North-Westerly today, 2 hail showers and 1 snow shower so far, the sky is black to the North and North-West again so more to come, there must be some very unstable air around East Anglia as these are very convective showers today!!

3 very light snow showers mid morning-lasting about 1 minute each then heavy sleet mixed with some snow (not large amounts but big flakes) lasting about 40 minutes, 2 or 3 of which fell just as snow.

Not fair, is it? All the right conditions but temps too high. 8C just dropped to 6C here. perhaps tonight.....
