The guys down under are getting some sightings of the Southern Lights "Aurora Australis" from this storm.

Shuggs:

From spaceweather -

"AURORA WATCH: A solar wind stream hit Earth yesterday, causing a mild geomagnetic storm and pretty auroras over Scandinavia. The storm has subsided, but it could flare up again; the solar wind is still blowing against Earth. High-latitude sky watchers, remain alert for auroras. "

I was camping in Montrose over the weekend. Had been cloudy at nightfall with rain later but was a beautifull clear sky at 4.00am this morning, no sign of any aurora though.

Maybe a chance for the far North of the UK if things are strong enough. Keep an eye on the indicators above....

"AURORA WATCH: A solar wind stream is heading toward Earth, and it could spark a geomagnetic storm when it arrives on Sept. 2nd or 3rd. High-latitude sky watchers, be alert for auroras."
