Not a single flake here in Derby.... What annoys me is that every time there is a cold spell - whether it be from the N the NE or the E we in the Midlands will miss out!!!! originally i was supposed to wake up this morning to 5cm, and there is nothing!!!!

Can someone tell me if this cold spell has been downgraded or if it is now ONLY likely to affect the east of the country? :)

Overcast again, windy in a fresh northerly wind and feeling nowhere near as cold as yesterday. Dry.

Today is expected to be mostly dry and cold. The wind will stay mostly northerly and occasional wintry showers are expected to feed in from the north sea drifting inland. Later on towards this evening heavier showers will develop as the wind starts to shift NE / E and the showers penetrate deeper inland.

Temp 0.2C, lowest it got all night too.

We have had 1/2 cms of snow overnight. My window faces due east and I can see snow clouds coming our way iterspersed with blue sky.

Quite pleased cos I was beginning to think I was jinxed against snow :)

'Gentle' sleet & snow now falling here in Dublin now since about 06.30 (no wind) :) . Temps gradually falling from 2.1C at 06.30 to 1.7C now.

Hope they keep falling as there is a large band of rain/sleet/snow currently over Ireland currently sinking southwards.

Snowing away here in Northern Ireland. Ballyclare (Co. Antrim) has got an inch or so but it aint half coming down. Met office issued a severe weather warning at 5 am for all of NI, but wether only said the eastern half would get snow. Ah well, musn't grumble!

Hi Guys,

5" of snow overnight on top of existing stuff, local radio stations advising falls of up-to extra 4" during the day, also advising on local radio of up-to 8" overnight again.

It snowed that much that me anemometer clogged up with snow and i lost all wind speed readings last night at 2340...

Hesleden 5 Miles east of Durham City

Morning all,

Current conditions, 2cms snow this morning, stopped snowing briefly but has just started to come down heavy again.

Current temp 0°C

Wind Speed 0mph

Snow depth 2cms

A nice surprise wasn't expecting any snow owing to being so far west. A little more of the white stuff to add to the league tables  .

Something really wierd happening now. Temp had risen steadily up to 4.1degC, but now it's dropped very quickly back to 2.8degC. Temperature now bobbling frenetically between 2.4 and 3.0degC. What's going on?!?

Lightish snow here in Hudds for the past hour, and now has just increased to a Heavy shower with good sized flakes, although sun was out most of morning so I think it will take a while to settle as ground needs to cool.

NE wind BTW.
