About 3 ins overnight on top of partly melted 6 ins we had overnight Sunday. Trees surrounding house laden with snow on every branch. Looks absolutely gorgeous. Took my very unsure two yr old niece sledging yesterday. After 10 mins she was having a whale of a time! She wouldn't remember last years snow so all fairly new to her. Still snowing very heavily and to continue all day and overnight. Yippeeeee!!!!!

0845rs Wednesday 23/2/05

This morning continues the wintry theme. More snow showers overnight brought another 2 - 3cm giving a total of about 10cm since Monday evening, and still snowing moderately as I write. The brief easterly yesterday has turned more northerly again as the low over Central Europe painfully inches its way WNW towards the UK, and catches the se on it's western end.

This mornings snow showers will become more frequent and prolonged this afternoon and into this evening. Cloud will persist throughout the day, brightening but never dispersing between those showers.

Expected high of 3C, but with that northerly and windchill feeling more like -4C.

-1.2C (min -1.8C @02:35) windchill -3.3C

5kts NNE (10 minute average); gusting 12kts (1 minute average over last hour); max gust 17kts @ 05:26

0.0mm/hr last hour; max 0.0mm/min over last 12hrs; total 0.00mm/12hrs

1011.7hPa msl corrected, trend rising slowly, +0.3hPa/hr

90% humidity

-4.7C dewpoint (-2.4C wetbulb)

High today of 1.9ºC, currently 1.7ºC.

Sunny for the last two hours, surprising considering today was supposed to be a duller day than yesterday.

Snow depth average (level) 15cm.

Some favoured spots in the garden, shaded from the worst thawing have accumulated 18cm level snow.

Total snowfall during this cold period is 24cm.

Just watched the sky turn almost black to the east and vis' decrease from around 12 miles to 100 yds as a quite amazingly heavy snow shower arrived, like someone tipping a bag of feathers and powder from the sky.

Snow is blowing around in almost blizzard like fashion, temperature has fallen from -0.8c 15 mins ago to -1.8c.

The roads which have been clear of snow, and heavily gritted, since about 0930 have been completely whitened over within the space of 3 minutes.
