Overcast with heavy snow.

Yesterday's high temperature reached the predicted 4C. It remained mostly overcast with snow showers turning to rain by mid morning and drizzle throughout the day aiding the complete thaw of remaining snow by early evening.

Later in the evening, the drizzle again started turning to sleet as temperatures and dew points dropped in the wake of a cold front.

This morning sees heavy snow falling from leaden skies with another 5cm of fresh powder but easing somewhat as this is written.

Total snow accumulation for the winter is now about 28.0cm with snow at some point on each of ten consecutive days at the end of February and early March with 13 snow days in total for the whole winter period.

The LP system associated with this mornings snow will move ESE slowly and any snow will become more showery by lunchtime. Winds will turn from northerly to westerly and the showers may turn increasingly to sleet or rain this afternoon.

This evening a second developing LP system will begin a similar track to the first and again rain and sleet may this time more readily turn to snow especially over higher ground from the midlands south.

Expected high of 4C this afternoon, feeling like 2C with windchill.

-0.3C (min -0.4C @06:38) windchill -0.3C

<2kts N (10 minute average); gusting 5kts (1 minute average over last hour); max gust 7kts @ 07:10

0.0mm/hr last hour; max 0.0mm/min over last 12hrs; total 0.00mm/12hrs

996.1hPa msl corrected, trend steady, -0.0hPa/hr
