Aol, and I reakon it might have been something I have done as I was able to see images before. Its only been over the last few weeks or so that it has happened.

The only thing that has changed is I have a new anti-virus, and i think it was playing before I installed it anyway.

There may be some sort of block on images, look aorund in options. It could also be some form of parental control thats messed it up?

What firewall do you use?

As I have just gone through about 3 of them due to such conflicts.

The Zone Alarm firewall I had started conflicting with the latest version of my anti-virus software.

So I switched back to Kerio, but that caused me similar problems to the one you are describing.

Then I switched to Sygate, but the problems remained.

I then switched to Outpost Pro, which solved the problem.

But the amount of blue screens that it caused was not even funny.

I am now running Tiny personal firewall 2005, and touch wood I have not had anymore problems.

So I reckon that it is indeed your firewall that may be causing this.

Or your browser could be at fault.

Mcafee firewall, and I set it to every possible setting it got, and still no change. Funny thing is I just had a look in the gallery, and there is one picture I can see, it was Halo 5. Tried clicking on it and it would not view it. closed gallery down, opened it back up, and the pic has gone. Can't see it any more

cache-los-ab02.proxy.aol.com

That may also be your problem.

Transparent proxies are a pain in the backside, especially AOL ones.

Hi, still cannot view images on net-weather. I have an idea to see where the problem lies.

If it's my firewall etc that is the problem, then I should not be able to view images from other websites.

Could some one give me an address of a website with images(no porn :D )so I can check to see if I can view them. A website like net-weather would be a good one to try.

hmm, does it have a privacy option? They usually break the images if the host is using hotlink protection and it especially breaks images on IPB boards (This one)

If it has a privacy option, disable it and see if that helps.

The privacy option usually does the following:

Stops certain adverts

Stops popups

Hides your referrer (This is what causes the problem. The referrer tells the server where you're coming from, that is, who referred you to the website. This works fine until the site's stopping hotlinking as the site doesn't know where you're grabbing the image from and blocks it)

They're the only 3 things it usually does, it might be worth getting a popup blocker such as the Google Toolbar so that you don't get any popups, that is, if popups aren't blocked already.

Yep as Nab says, its the referrer thing that was the problem there. We recently put protection on theimages on here as people were using them on other sites, so without your referrer showing as net-weather, it blocked the images from you :D

I shall leave it disabled, unless I can set net-weather as the referrer?

I'm not 100% sure of the settings but somewhere you might be able to add a site to the "Allow" list, although this doesn't always work.

You're not really compromising any of your computer security by leaving it disabled to be honest.

Does it have an option to allow the referrer to go through or anything, or even a low setting on the privacy?

Ash

I think I shall leave it disabled Ash, as it is not a critical part of my sercurity service.
