A developing thunderstorm just passed over, torrential rain over me but as it moved away n/e it turned thundery, very black to the n/e and regular lightning and long rumbles of thunder from the rotherham/doncaster direction.

Just been looking at this on the radar, trying to work out where its going but anyone who it hits will get some heavy rain with all the bright colours from the radar return.

Small thunderstorm just passed to the west of me producing some cool forked lightning.

Also gave some impressive booming thunder.

It was a huge CB with a large anvil, but low level clouds obscured it before I could get the camera and take any pictures.

StrikeAlert is continuing to pick up local storm activity.

Yeah, I don't think its that active, I did manage to see some ic as I got my camera out before it started to cloud over. Also have photos of what appears to be a front moving in. Once all this passes and I get chance to get these on the gallery I'll post them all up.

Just got a 0-6 strike.

Hi Everyone,

Spotted what looked like a funnel cloud decending from a CB base in my area today at 15:25.

Unfortunately didnt have my digital camera.

Location between Alton Towers and Waterhouses - A53 between Leek and Ashbourne.

Is there any way I can find out if this was an FC?

Describe what it looked like a bit more, did it look like a tornado which was hanging there doing nothing, or did it look like a straggly bit of cloud which looked like a funnel cloud coming from the base? If it looked more like a tornado congratulations you've seen a funnel (Tuba) Cloud :)

Always, and i mean always have you camera with you :)

I thought i thought to mention that i have seen three faux funnels over the past two years, when ive been looking, ive got pictures of them all, posted one in a funnel cloud thread in storm/extreme weather...

Had a really lovely warm day until 4.15pm when some really dark skys started to roll in. I started packing up the deck chairs while the wind increased.

Then by 4.30pm the rain started, reasonably heavy but the wind was unbelievable :) similar to a storm I experienced in Florida.

There was no lightning that I saw but a few rumbles. Had a further shower at 6pm.

All calm and dry at the moment but hoping for some more action later :)

Thanks SS.

Greyish tornado shaped cloud formed from the trailing end of cloud. Looked like a tornado - very dark but well defined cloud base.

Only visible for about 2 or 3 mins then my view was lost behind a sheet of rain.

We are not located in an area where there are frequent storms although there have been some confirmed tornados in the last 5 years.

I'm really disapointed - no storms what so ever for me this bank holiday weekend. :) Still, I guess there is always tonight to get through.

Are there any signs of a storm comming close to North Kent/South London tonight?

On my way home distant CC lightning was observed well to my north/northeast - clearly from the storms over Norfolk/The Wash area earlier.
