Woken by a thunderstorm between 2.30-3.00 am this morning here in S Kent, vivid lightning and loud thunder overhead for 10 mins - accompanied by torrential rain and a cold downdraft blowing through my window - a fairly decent French import. Been dry and cloudy since.

One of the worst thunderstorms I have ever witnesed in this country passed over Leeds in the Last hour.

Very very heavy rain with thunder and lightning and then the hail came, it must of been 5-10mm in diametre and lasted a good 10-15 minutes.

So Leeds had a storm and my mother in Northallerton (N Yorks) said there's been a nasty one up there, yet nothing in York, even though it's been black as hell since half 10 here.

No thunder or lightning here, by the looks of it it was just North east of me. Some torrential rain around 1145, but no thunder as I had hoped for.

Two thunderstorms have hit Darwen dead on today.

The first one arrived at 10:30 AM this morning and the second one arrived at about 12:30 PM lunchtime.

The first one contained hail and a hell of a lot of rain, this storm produced some very loud thunder.

The second storm was similar to the first, except that it did not drop any hail.

Though it did drop an inordinate amount of rain.

It also contained quite a lot of lightning, I saw some good flashes as it moved in.

Forked lightning, CG and IC.

This storm also produced some very loud thunder.

Both of these storms lasted about an hour each.

Numerous other storm cells have clipped my area through the morning, as my StrikeAlert picked them up and they also produced a few loud rumbles.

Heres hoping for another storm before the end of the day.

Had a few flashes of lighting and few rumbles of thunder and big downpours of rain today.

Also had some last night around 10pm but forgot to post.
