After a mostly cloudy and dry start with hazy sunshine, the cloud thickened considerably by mid-afternoon. This led to some heavy thundery showers, with the final shower lasting well into the evening. By nightfall it turned drier with overcast skies and a light westerly wind. In the hazy sunshine earlier on it managed to reach a respectable 22.4°C, but this quickly feel back to around 13°C as the showers arrived. There was also a sticky feel in the air as the humidity increased steadily from the mid-afternoon. A combination of the high maximum and minimum temperatures has raised my June average over a degree above the 1971-2000 value and interestingly, 3 out of 3 days so far this June have seen substantial rain.
