Report for Monday 4th July 2005, Readings taken at 23:50.

Overall a cloudy, wet and very cool day. It started off dry this morning but by around 11am the rain arrived with some 7mm falling in the space of 30 minutes. The afternoon and evening continued much in the same way, though the rain was lighter and not as constant. The maximum temperature today was 16.6°C reached before the rain arrived. The temperature then fell and has remained below 13.5°C for the entire day. Interestingly, today's maximum temperature is only 0.1°C higher than Saturdays minimum temperature. With such a cool day a full degree has been shaved from my July average and the 11.4mm of rainfall today is well over sixth of the total amount expected here in July.

Current Temp: 13.1°C

Max Temp: 16.6°C (at 10:53)

Min Temp: 11.6°C (at 05:01)

Humidity: 84%

Min Humidity: 73% (at 00:45)

Pressure: 1004.8hPa (Steady)

Dewpoint: 10.4°C

Wind: NNW (8mph)

Rain Today: 11.4mm

My July average currently stands at 18.5°C (+2.0°C Above the 1971-2000 average).

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
