All cloud has cleared now after temperatures of 30c with long sunny spells, got slightly cloudier towards the end of the day but all the clouds have cleared of the scene now and we have a clear, mediterranean sky without a cloud to be seen. Current temperature is 24.4c and falling slightly and pressure of 1029hPa, humidity is quite high at 58% and rising. There is no wind anymore and what wind we had earlier, (and a warm wind at that has totally stopped) Looking forward to tomorrow, 28/29c and sunny once again with 30c for wednsday and thursday. Maybe a slightly cooler day come friday with 26c but still fantastic. Who needs the south of spain? I dont!!

What a perfect Summer's day it's been here in East Herefordshire.

More or less wall to wall sunshine all day.

Only the occasional small build up of cloud but nothing serious and it quickly dispersed.

Throughout it's been very warm, and this afternoon actually HOT!

The sun has now set, and earlier the little cloud there was in the north west was a salmon pink colour against the pale blue.....quite nice.

Now the sun has dipped completely and the little trails of cloud are a smoky grey.

Darkness now falling over this wee Green Acre called Herefordshire!

It looks set mainy fair and warm or very warm for the rest of the week, certainly here in the South West Midlands.

Statistics:

Last night saw a minimum temperature here of +16.6C at 05:07hrs, so pretty warm.

The maximum temperature reached here today was +28.8C at 13:33hrs. No quite reaching the high here yesterday of +29.1C and certainly not reaching the year's high so far of +31.1C on 19 Jun 05.

Sun index here been High and Pollution levels Moderate.

Pressure: 1032mb steady

Currently calm

Upper airflow from NNE

Relative humidity now risen to 63% after a low of 52%

Cloud cover has been 0% much of the time, at a maximum cover of 40%

Currently: 5% cover

Rainfall 24 hrs to 08:00hrs: NIL

Rainfall July to date: 17.8mm

Rainfall 2005 to date: 255.1mm

Current temperature here at 22:00hrs: +22.7C

So maybe an even warmer night down here on the edge of the Wye Walley.

I can hear an owl hooting......

Very hot and still day here.

Not sure what the max temp was - about 26C I would imagine.

But what was very apparent above the city today was a layer of smog. It was a brownish-orange colour and was clearly visible from above the city (where I work). Even more unpleasant was looking out over East Lothian where the power station at Cockenzie was chucking out a thin layer of yellow/brown smog right over Eastern Edinburgh. It looked like a slick of pollution in a lake at about, say 2000ft.

Very unpleasant. Glad I don't live in LA.

Report for Monday 11th July 2005, Readings taken at 23:50.

Another warm and sunny day, though not reaching the same maximum temperature as yesterday. It also felt a little more pleasant due to a light south-easterly wind which took the edge off of the temperatures. Once again it was quite a misty day, but never enough do much more than make the sunshine hazy at times. This evening has seen cloud move in from the north-sea and the temperature drop accordingly, making it feel much more comfortable than last night. Also noteworthy is the pressure, which has been steadily rising all day and is very high for the time of year.

Current Temp: 15.4°C

Max Temp: 26.5°C (at 13:38)

Min Temp: 14.4°C (at 05:13)

Humidity: 82%

Min Humidity: 51% (at 14:25)

Pressure: 1033.1hPa (Steady)

Dewpoint: 12.3°C

Wind: SE (Calm)

Rain Today: 0.0mm

My July average currently stands at 17.8°C (+1.3°C Above the 1971-2000 average).
