AMEND

Thunderstorms occurring in the entrance to the Bristol Channel will move north east and may give isolated torrential downpours into the evening.

Overnight a developing low and a trough developing just ahead of the cold front currently over the north west of the country will be the trigger for some high rainfall totals. Thunderstorms seem unlikely in the main rain belt as the rain will occur on the north west flank of the low. Areas first affected will be the south west Midlands then extending north east on the area shown on the map. Rain is likely over about 5-8 hours in places with 8-15mm being predicted in some 3 hour periods. Totals of 20-40mm could fall in placses. Possibly even higher due to high ground effects. Some localised flooding is possible.

Confidence Level: 80%
