Started off cloudy. By 6am distant rumbles of thunder could be heard, by 6.30am the storm broke with torrential rain, which is still coming down! Temperatures are still high at 17C in a light NE wind...

It was raining when I got up at 3 a.m and dull overcast when it got light but it has now turned mainly cloudy and sunny. With a slight breeze quite a plesant day not to hot nor to cold just right as Goldilocks says.

I am entering a comp for the slowest frontal cloud clearance ever :lol: .

At 0700 the clear sky was about 15 miles away and it is still not here, in that time it has gradually been covered by convective cumulus.

After early rain we now have hazy sunny spells, a briskish WNW breeze and a humid feel at 20c.

I was woken at 2am this morning by the loudest clap of thunder and realised we were in the middle of a storm. However, I have not found any comments on here to colaborrate this or any mention in weather forecasts so I am wondering now if I dreamt it. Are there any indications that we had a storm here this morning? Did anyone else locally experience one? :lol:

Just started tipping down here too Michael. It was fine first thing this morning, yesterday's front attempted to produce rain around 8-10 pm but we got only a few spots, no thunder either.

Looking at the MO radar this lookks like Cheshire Gap showers, especially since the wind's turned to NW.

And for the second day running we've had to put the lights on in the office, at mid-afternoon in August :lol:
