Looks like August will go out with a Bang!! With temp's expected to nudge 80/90F across the country expect fireworks, I will hold out until the evening if that's okay and get a better view at night

The sun is now coming out but there have just been two very loud thunder claps to the north. Bristol City Centre should be getting some heavy rain according to the black sky - if anyone lives around Bristol do tell us. There are still some rumbles here and there.

Afternoon,

Small storm has just passed over exeter. Hazy morning with increasing cloud towards afternoon. Now very hazy with a fair amount of low/mid level stratus so difficult to make out any detail. Darkening of sky to southwest (torbay) around 2pm and has now moved overhead and looks like moving along the M5 corridor towards taunton and north devon. Very little of rain but a fair amount of lightning with some ground strikes towards the western side of exeter.

Cheers

S

Edit - Some rain followed the storm around 15.30-16.00. Dry & overcast now but cloud cover beging to break.

Just has a storm here. Torrential rain, thunder and lightning for 20 minutes. The thunder was very loud and I heard a loud bang which i presume was lightning hitting somewhere close

Still sunny here in Wimborne, Dorset, but beginning to see cloud cover - extremely warm, can just about hear distant rumbles of thunder. The Ilse of Wight Lightning decector shows that we have had lightning strikes but I can not report seeing or hearing anything significant!

Nothing here, absolutely zilch. Some heavy rain, but the worst of the rai has now passed I think.

Rain stopped, but sky still very threatening. Havent seen any lightning yet but there was some thunder. Looking at the radar the main rain area is just NE of me, but there's more moving in from N Wales. Would like a good electrical storm to see one of the most boring Augusts in my memory go out with a bang (not expecting a repeat of 19 June though!)
