    They are just plants that have sprouted into a dark space with very little light so they have tried to grow upwards to try and find the light, they are blanched because they are in the dark .

    They could be some kind of bean that's struggling to grow in the dark...Etiolated or etoilated? I can't remember which... :lol: :lol:

    Equally, as fp suggested - they could be suckers?? :):)

    Agree, they are blanched plants and probably tree suckers. Whatever, they will be in about the foundations and your friend doesn't want them there. Looks as if there are a few other problems as well. Plants will not grow without a source of moisture and drainage/leaky roofing needs to be corrected. Sodium chlorate weed killer inside and out side the wall should kill off the growth but you need to find the cause of the problem or in a few years it could return or even worse dry rot could start getting into new timber if its a renovation project.
