Coldest morning of the autumn so far here on the coast of Essex with temps dipping down to -2C! great for soil temps, recorded now 11 frosts for this month which has not been experienced for some considerable time.

I haven't posted every frost from the cold spell but, now it has turned milder, here are some brief stats from the night time temps....

-3c ( 2 nights)

-4c ( 6 nights)

-5c ( 1 night)

-6c ( 3 nights)

In this period of frosts 2 nights stayed above freezing at 1c and 3c.

This has meant 12 frosts (some severe) in 14 nights.

The previous 2 November's I have recorded in had just 9 frosts in total, 4 of which were only 0c mins.

I am looking forward to completing my November stats after tonight's minimum.

Thick ground frost.. almost fell down stairs outside flat! Must have got down to at least -2 last night, but forgot to check weather station in mad rush out the door!

Now at work - canary wharf - crystal clear skies with not a cloud visible!
