The warmest September since I began recording, with notable high maximas. It reached 25.4°C on the 6th, the warmest since September 2003. The first 9 days were particularly warm, with maxima no lower than 21.5°C and minima of above 15°C on the 1st, 4th, 8th and 9th. Despite the warmth, it was relatively changable and fairly dull with fog and some heavy rain.

After a cooler weekend on the 10th and 11th it briefly became warmer again, reaching 24.5°C on the 13th. The 15th and 16th were much cooler, with maximas of only 14.9°C and 13.8°C in a northerly wind.

The following week was mostly warm, dry and pleasant in a southerly airflow. It reached 22.1°C on the 22nd, the latest date to do so on my records. the 19th also saw a high minima of 13.8°C, the warmest so late in the month since September 2003.

The final week turned much more average, with frequent rain and lower minima. The coldest of these was on the 24th, where it dipped to 5.1°C. Overall, the level of rainfall was just below average for the time of year, though the days with above 1.0mm of rain was slightly above average at 9 days.

Hello everyone, here is my September 2005 Report.

After a thundery close to August, September saw strongly rising pressure as the Azores high again extended its influence across the UK.

Very pleasant warm, dry and sunny weather was the theme for early part of September with temperatures well above average.

After the 10th the rest of the month was a little more unsettled with temperatures returning to normal and a little below at times, although some very pleasant sunny days were noted here as well. I recorded the first frost of the season during the latter half of the 2nd week.

Average maximum temperature = 17.9c

Average minimum temperature = 10.9c

Mean temperature = 14.8c + 1.1c

Warmest day on the 4th = 24.7c

Coldest day on the 16th = 13.3c

Warmest night on the 10th = 16.1c

Coldest night on the 17th = 1.4c

Ground Frosts = 2

Rainfall total = 49mm

Regards

Paul

I have some amazing stats when comparing Sept 2005 to 2004 and 2003. These are detailed below.

Average max = 19.8c (Highest 26c on 4th)

Average min = 10.2c (Lowest = 2c on 17th)

Mean = 15c

Dry days = 19

Rain days = 11

Rainfall = 73mm **40mm of this fell in under an hour on the 10th B) **

The amount has only gone towards a 3 inch total with

21mm in the last week.

Comparisons : amazingly the 2004 mean temp was also 15c while in 2003 the mean was 14.95c !! I guess I've found my long term Sept mean temp  .
