we had very heavy rain this morning here from 3am and its just stopping now

a large number of roads are closed. this is what they said on the radio on traffic watch - "we are getting reports of flooding on roads and some vehicles are stuck in the water"

also a few schools and business are closed after there roofs collapsed. there has also been power cuts in a number of areas.

No rain but very very windy with leaves falling like blizzards. Roads becoming very slippery and gusts of wind getting higher.

started off wet but nothing more than just a breeze but now the winds have really picked up and we're getting gusts in excess of 30mph... i'm hoping we get to 50mph by the morning! :)

Just spoken to my parents on the iow and its quite windy there - theyve had over 58mm of rain today and local river is on flood watch now. There is still a severe weather warning for central southern england and another 40mm of rain is possible. Severe gales also forecast for Isle of Wight - strongest gust there so far is 49mph.

Very heavy rain overnight. Now strong winds and rain. Had a power cut for 3 hours but don't know if the strong wind is the cause or not. Good job I was stocked up with candles. Better get more tomorrow. :):):)

HI guys hope we're all safe! we had 2inches of rain overnight with flooding on all roads. the 12mile journey to work took 1hour! there was a 4 car shunt on the main road from Peel to Douglas (my usual route to work!) so i took an alternative route with loads of other drivers at not more than 30miles an hour and in low gear all the way! small cars, 4x4's and even vans were stuck in the floods. at least one river broke its banks, coast road at the Corony closed all morning, trees down (specially as most of the trees toppled in the hurricane force winds in January have been left to decompose where they fell). the DOT issued warnings not to travel for at least 2hours right at the start of the working week! all teams out all night tonight in preparation for more rain over night onto already waterlogged ground.

stay safe guys :)

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
