We had heavy rain for a couple of hours this morning between 0615 and 0830,also it is very windy out there,sun did make an appearance for about 5mins about 0845 but now that has gone .clouds drifting in from SSW

I was woken up out of my lazy slumber by a rollickingly heavy burst of rain at around 9.30 this morning. Soon after the house was noticably shaking from a violent squall that followed. Pretty lively way to wake up.

Calmed down since, but i think some more clusters of squally vorticity are heading our way. The temperature is at around 14C but there is a considerable wind chill which makes it feel a few degrees cooler than that in unsheltered spots. Being on a hill doesn't help either.

In Durham we have had quite a few strong downdraughts occurring locally in the past few days. Here are a few pics that i have garnered of that peculiarity: -
