Currently very windy across the midlands (crisp packets flying across the air elc) ... no rain yet but has been overcast all morning! very dull and damp day! Need this rain to clear quite quick when it comes so temps can drop!

At 1.30...the rain finally arrived, and it brought with it what seemed like hurricane conditions for a period of 10 minutes up on the hill where i live. Sustained wind speeds during that period of the rains arrival hit 50mph for a time. Maximum gust of 90mph recorded when the heavy rain hit.

A gust of 74mph was recorded on the Tay Bridge earlier today.

Its gotten very windy up here in the last couple of hours, I normally use the weather station at Glascarnoch, but it seems to have been knocked out by the wind this evening, so I don't have any accurate readings - but the house is shaking a bit.

As for ICE - How's the weatehr looking for the match between our teams tomorrow ??

Nope, Car is in the garrage, one of the wheels on the timing belt broke, bending 6 valves, so I have a costly repair bill coming my way.

As for the weather, seems to be picking up a bit up here, lights have been browning out, but not gone as yet, but the candles are out and at the ready.

The rain is also pouring down - well maybe not down, more side-ways tahn anything

Still getting a pretty rough ride up here just now,

I see that the data has started coming back from Loch Glascarnoch, which is my nearest weather station, and it has recorded a gust of 88 kn.. around 8Pm.. That must be in the region of 100 mph.

See for yourself HERE

I had almost forgotten to post this!

Yesterday I was out in Burnley at about 4:45 PM when a storm hit which dropped an enormous amount of rain and hail on the area as well as blasting it with hurricane force winds.

We pulled the truck over to the side of the road where the winds shook it around like crazy, as well as swaying the lamp posts back and to as if a tornado was passing through.

I was half expecting to see one at this point as the winds were that strong.

Stripping leaves and branches of trees then throwing them through the air for many meters.

It also went pitch black very quickly as the storm approached.

I would not be at all surprised to hear reports of tornados from that storm given how intense it was, though it was also very short lived as it had passed through in all of 15 minutes.

My mums BMW also has a chip in the windscreen which she said was caused during the storm which she was driving through in Blackburn at a similar time, the chip looks like it has been caused by a hailstone or other small object picked up during the storm.

So its likely that this same storm also hit Darwen as it passed through this region.

Was there any thunder or lightning? There were plenty of road rivers in Bristol and that area.
