Heavy wet snow sky very dark ;)

The snow is actually settling on the main road outside, I'm a little concerned that due to the surprise (at least to the meto) nature of this, the road has not been gritted.

Been snowing here since 9:00a.m. with about an inch down already. Have to get to south manchester (and home ) later and by what looks to be coming in from the north sea (around Newcastle for it to arrive here) we may 'have a problem'. Any guidance on how much may fall on the western slopes of the pennines would be appreciated (we're nearly at the MetO's 4cm already and it looks like more on the way!!! Where's John H. when you need him!!)

well just have had heavy snow shower but snow already starting to melt and snow turning sleety mabey some more snow later on. roofs covered along with grass

Now properly snowing ;)

Update at 12.23 - Snow has proberly started to fall, with it settling on the grass.

Also, Mrs SR has reported snow from Coalville.

Yes, Fully laden sky line.

1 to 2 cm at 75m above sea level. Where I live . 2 to 3 cm at 150 m towards the hills. Just been there !

Very pretty scenes in Trafford Park, Manchester. " heavy showers in the last half hour are laying around, even on wet untreated surfaces. It was frosty last night & clear at 7am, so the ground's cold enough. Big flakes right now, they look wet judging by the speed they're falling past my window. Light NWish wind, temp just above freezing.
