Conditions - A wet start to the morning, but the rain holding off. Recently we've had some very dark clouds and torrential rain.

Just had 10 minutes of very heavy sleet here, followed by small hail.

Temperature fell from 5.4c to 3.0c.

I was going to post this in the snow reports but there isn't one for today.

TM, I was wondering about you. Just about to post to say that as I set off at 8:30 this morning it was sleeting (<1%) at the top (1000') of Stratosdale, at 3.5C. When I say "sleeting" it was the case that about every 50th raindrop clearly had the last vestiges of melting snow in it. Slightly surprising.

It's been a very active day of weather. Spells of heavy showery rain and gusting winds with some bright/sunny periods. Max of 8c.

The advantage of being a bit further north, Stratos? This morning at 7.0, here, there was heavy rain at a temp' of 3.5c. Despite peering at a sheet of wet glass with a powerful torch for several minutes I could detect no sleet. Sleet just detectable at 360m, about the same % of snow as in your post above.

Since the heavy sleet and small hail mentioned in my previous post, the afternoon has been dry and windy here with a few glimpses of sunshine during mid-afternoon.
