Just had a call from a mate of mine 10 miles north of Bury St.Edmunds. 20 minute very intense soft hail shower (5mm size approx). Roads and fields covered. Signs of rotation and apparently wheely bin went flying over the car. Temp before storm 6c, dropped to 1c during and up to 4.5c just after. Latest AV radar seems to pick up those intense cells North Norfolk heading S/SW. Looks like Ipswich and Colchester may be next!!

A large hail shower just passed to my north and gave me a little bit, There were signs of rotation, Mostly fractus.

Large Cumilonimbus starting to form here at an increasingly rapid rate, I think there is a good chance of some areas including mine seeing some thunderstorms this afternoon.

Chaser, I'm in Central London and to the North-East of me it looks like the end of the world is coming. Just about to be hit by something that looks very promising indeed. Will Let you know if it is anything to write home about in a little while.

that downdraft region would perhaps explain the wheelybin incident then! Just saw the Beeb 1757 forecast. Heavy thundery showers with hail will continue for East Anglia tonight and tomorrow :D:D:D:D Keep the reports coming in! I will rename this thread. BTW Highcliffe did you mean horizontal hail??? :D

local Anglia news just confirmed that todays weather has so far been bizarre in that the temps changed so much. Bedford went from 10c to 4c in a shower which would seem to confirm the temp difference recorded in the hail report detailed above. There must have been much colder air at 500mb or something. Any other thoughts? I get the impression tonight will be interesting!

 Can you beleive it! Confirmation of the 'tornado' in Jersey yesterday:

    Twist and spout

    BY MURRAY DRON

AN elderly couple were swept off their feet by a mini tornado yesterday.

John and Margaret Potter, from Woodbridge in Suffolk, were walking back from Elizabeth Castle at 12.45 pm when the twister lifted them into the air.

Before they knew what was happening, the pair, who are in their mid-70s and on holiday for a week, were dumped on the sand next to the causeway.

'It was frightening,' said Mrs Potter. 'We were walking back from the castle when we were suddenly lifted up, shot along a bit and thrown down on the sand. I think if we hadn't been holding on to each other it might have been a lot worse.'

Also remember a lady was lifted off the beach during the summer by a dust devil! I wonder if I will be lifted when I get there next Friday??

Sounds great, always wanted to get into a weak funnel and be chucked around :D not that thats my view on chasing but one on my wish list :D the guys and girls at Felixstowe Ambulance Station told me of a inflatable whale which was lifted by a Tornado/waterspout off the pier and some several hundred meters up the front and dropped into someones garden! the thing was that there was a 8yoa boy inside  totally unhurt by his trip :D

YES right the stuff tonight, will be watching like a hawk first sign of anything im off, Great Yarmouth is only 30mins from here so thats where I will be going, if it gets to first light Im hoping to catch me first waterspout! well I live in hope
