Getting dark properly now having not really got light all day. Difference today from the last few days was the addition of snow flurries/grains most of the day. Max of -2c!

In my earlier post i said the fog had cleared but by the time i reached Belfast there was very dense fog and this lingered until about midday. In bangor though only 15 miles east its been another sunny mild day. Fog starting to form again now though and skies still clear.

A slow rise in temperature throughout last night meant that we didn't have the coldest day since 1996 after all. The temp' remained below 0c however and with thick freezing fog and drizzle from about 0500 the rime persisted above 300m.

The temp' eventually got above 0c by midday, the rime thawed and the fog cleared to give a dull afternoon with occasional light drizzle.
