Lancaster Update:

A sunny morning, then dull wet afternoon, with wind picking up a little but nothing more than a moderate breeze. High of 11C, so only slightly milder than average.

In the evening, the sky cleared and the wind dropped right off. I kept saying 'is this the calm before the storm?'

Suddenly, at 11pm, without any warning whatsoever, the wind became extremely gusty (we must surely have reached 50 mph by now) with cloud thickening and rain.
