We've had an amazing snow event here; I think a new low-end record on Stratos's intensity scale has been set tonight with snow currently falling at intensity of around 0.25, which is tantamount to saying that I can actually see further WITH the snow falling than I would be able to without. This winter continues to find ever more novel ways of lowering the average intesity per snow event.

A new scale is required for intensity seeing as hours have now lost all relevance. Millimetres per decade anyone?

Must be having that amazing shower that Startos was talking about :D

Fine and very light snow showers here. Not accumulating at all, but some snow nonetheless.

Been snowing lightly all morning, enough to make some surfaces white, brief

episodes of slightly more moderate snow, think this will continue all day, but not

leading to anything major, admitedly :D

Well, i got up this morning at 6.45am and went for a walk up in the sticks (5 mins up the road from my house). Good 2cm covering of snow everywhere and there was even some old drifts that had survived from Sunday that had been topped-up. At 7.30am it felt really wintry indeed with a pretty sharp snow shower with heavy snow grains and graupel; must've been a bit of a rogue one. Sadly, everything started melting pretty quickly from 8am onwards.

Another snow shower has begun...

Yet more snow in Stratosmoortop, and the theme of the winter continues unabated: this morning a veritible moderate sprinkling of snow amounting to, oooh, about 2mm I'd say. As PP says, an interesting first in recent times in that we now have new snow (albeit in quantities that would require scientific instrumentation to detect) falling on the remnants of old snow from a previous event.

Also had Tuesday night's mystery answered now that the air to the north has finally cleared. There is snow, not far to the north, down to about 200m. A sharp dividing line between where the snow fell and where we had frozen / freezing rain.
