Have 2 vid clips relating to the incident just 2 miles South of Coalgate which will be uploaded soon when i find the Tape in my suitcase, but here is firstly the warning and then another close lightning strike, roads flooded and just after this we possibly had a Tornado or Funnel Cloud pass the road in front of us, am still trying to get the image off my Video and or Camera for this, this was at 845pm taking shelter after the Coalgate Tornado Sirens from 6pm earlier that evening. Take a look at the Baron's system at the start of the clip and see us surrounded by the rotating Meso's

Hey paul, I just watched those vids, ah you guys were so lucky to be storm chasing in like the middle of a supercell, well the barons system or dopplar radar or whatever it was indicated some bright colours and it looked to me you were right in the thick of it. Pretty torrential rain aswell and the lightning looked exciting to watch but bloody intense. Which person were you in the car? Because the guy in the front was like "crust" when the man issued the tornado warning, although it must have been pretty exciting.

I went to florida on a tennis tour last October, with my school and it was the end of the month when hurricane wilma struck florida. With the moist, humid, hot air we had and the cold front (hurricane) moving our way it fueled some thunderstorms that night probably along a squall line and I remember turning the TV on to the west florida weather channel and they had issued a tornado warning, I was petroleum distillateing myself but it was so exciting. In the end, we did get a thunderstorm but it only had about 20 lightning strikes and torrential rain that caused flooding, no high winds or anything, a tornado was reported to the north of us though.

Anyway, thought you just might have wanted to know that.

Hi Paul. Its James Menzies here (UK Storm Chaser). I can confirm that the funnel/tornado that crossed in front of you was a tornado. I was on the same storm. In East Oklahoma. News 9 storm tracker also confirmed it. Hope you doing better than i did for a month and a half. Dam storms were all out eastern US this year for some strange reason haha. Take care and have fun.

    James

Hi James, I do actaully have the footage of something crossing the road in front of me but the language from one of us is absolutely appalling and i cannot upload it  :( I then switched to the Canon and got a few pictures on Manual Setting which show a funnel shape outlined by lightning, we were sitting just South of Atoka at 850pm after riding out the Coalgate Cell with Tornado Sirens ringing out, Bad Chase country though down in South East Oklahoma.

If you want to email it to me I can mute the language part of it for you :)

It was a frog running away from the coming storm that crossed the road wasn't it?

Oh I hope it can be added. It would be a shame to miss a video containing what you really went out there to see!! The lightning/wind is great, but a tornado is rare by comparison.

The disclaimer could read : the language contained in this video is not the opinion of NW but that of a bricked up, storm chasing member :whistling: .

Just edit the clip and put bleeps on the swear-words. Or even better, PM it to another admin and they'll edit it first before uploading it onto net-weather

I like to use Ulead VideoStudio for things like that.

Right Guys have uploaded the Video that follows the earlier Video, please note some strong language when something crosses the road in front of us, an increase in Lightning usually accompanies areas near or in the Tornado, this report has already been backed up by an SPC Report and Channel 9 in Oklahoma, pretty damn close, keep your eye on the rotation above and behind the trees when the lightning gets intense. Will have to pull some video stills of this for you but having seen it many times now i am convinced this was a Tornado.

hi paul.. very interseting video.. and yes.. i do believe you have a tornado there.. goes to show how dangerous night time can be in a storm setup in those sorts of locations..

    paul

edit.. about halfway through the clip there is what appears to be a lowering that is illuminated by the lightning.. would be good to see the frame grabs paul.. the file compression doesnt do the video justice.. one frame its there the next its gone.. im sure you have better detail.. :)

Yes my original Video is sooo clear, the compressed file has not come out nearly as good, Paul (Boss) is going to try and grab some stills and see what we get in Adobe Photoshop later.

Thanks Guys, will upload another in a few days and this may have another surprise hidden within the rain curtains, still trying to pic some stills from it, this was the Storm that i got the Night-time picture of a Nado, earlier we were on the same cell just before dusk and we may have a cone shaped tornado within the rain.

My heart was thumping quite a bit when that appeared over the trees, remember the other clip literally 2 minutes earlier with the warning noise on the radio, kinda fills you with dread as it is night-time.
