Temp' here is 3.2c and we've just had a heavy downpour of genuine

sleet. I even went outside to check it wasn't hail which had half melted but no, large, wet snowflakes coming down in heavy rain.

I haven't checked my records yet but I'm fairly sure this is the latest date for sleet I've recorded since the snow on June 2nd 1975.

The weather could hardly be better if I were scripting it myself.

Temperature has risen to 4.4c and the sleet has reverted to continuous moderate rain. Another 18.7mm overnight means we're now only about 6mm short of the 1979 total and 17 short of the wettest ever in 1967.

Mean wind speed is 15 mph W, vis' is 7 miles.
