Wibs, I'm still trying to work that one out. Incredible photo.

LeeKay nice double rainbow - you can really see how it's darker on the outside than on the inside of the rainbow.

Thanks John, had the new cam for 2 months, still experimenting. I seem to find the simplest shots are the most effective!

Lovely shot there Tugmistress. I love silhouetted cliffs, and was lucky enough to get something similar at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland a couple of years ago. I can't enter them here of course, but they are on my website.

As Shuggee says, there is some outstanding quality for August's entries. Mark's wave cloud (looks like leaping ethereal dolphins to me) is stunning, as is the other sunrise photo with the yacht and golden-tinged cloud. And I love some of the other entries as well. This is going to be even harder than July to pick a winner!

I got some shots in my garden at lunchtime yesterday which I posted on the photography area. Some nice translucent altocumulus (I've always called it mackerel sky). Nowhere near as dramatic as some on here. But I may enter one or two. How do you post photos into a thread like MPP, rather than have them as thumbnails?

i just host them on my own site, then right click on thepicture, copy 'properties' and paste that url into the box that appears when you click on the image box under the full reply setting ... did that make sense?

Thanks Paula. Yes, I can see now when I right click on your pic and those from Mark (Multi Cellular) and click properties. I may give that a go myself when I get a moment as I would need to put them on my site first. I thought you could simply add pictures into a post.

OK here goes.

I'm sure they don't match up to what has gone before but here are a few snaps from my recent trip to Scotland:

I was experimenting with my new camera and I found the black and white option (plus a little simulated red filter to go along with it!):

Small%20Findhorn1.jpg

This next one was a result of mucking around with the exposure and a good bit of timing with the cloud cover:

SmallFindhorn2.jpg

Thirdly - who says it's always windy in Scotland?

SmallNaKeal.jpg

For interest's sake the first two were taken in the Findhorn Valley near the Cairngorms and the third was looking across Loch Na Keal on Mull..

Bit Sheepy this but worth a try.

Pendle Hill looking towards the South: (Inspiration for George Fox setting up the Quakers, The dark happenings on Dartmoor in Hounds of the Baskerville, which was written under the hill's shadow (as was The Lord of the Rings at Stoneyhurst College). It apparantly inspired JRR Tolkien to come up with the Misty Mountains in LOTR. The latter two see the darker/mythical side of the hill because of the hill's most famous residents, the Pendle Witches. These have recently inspired Yvette Fielding to scream loudly and now we have lots of tourists causing gridlock on the hill.) The point is you know its worth a vote :D
