I'm here !!

Seriously though - no, not at the moment sadly. I'm just hoping I don't just fizzle out like Chris did. I long to be a Category 5 !

TROPICS SLOWLY GETTING MORE ACTIVE

There really isn't much news regarding the tropics this evening. We are watching a strong tropical wave and associated low pressure area out in the central Atlantic. The NHC says that it could become a tropical depression as early as later tonight. Keep in mind that conditions are still not perfect in the deep tropics. There is still dry, stable air and fairly high surface pressures throughout the region. Once these negative factors abate, we should see much more prolific development. It is also noteworthy that most of the global computer models show only limited activity over the coming days. We are probably still a week away from things getting really busy which is fine with everyone, I am sure. I will post another update here late tonight- near 11pm ET.

Floater 2 still shows surface rotation and convection starting up around it so maybe this p.m. , after 8Pm I reckon. I do like the look of all the stuff flowing out of Africa still, a veritable roller coaster.

EDIT: I wish I'd look before I post!! There must be a T.d. there now, I think the next NOAA update will say as much. I don't think it'll dilly -dally as a T.D. though, Chris showed us a lot of potential to grow out there at the mo'.

EDIT,EDIT: In fact it looks to have quite tight circulation from the outflow of the cells that are currently going up. Well worth a peep later IMHO

Is it getting easterly shear to some extent at the mo, and would that explain why it's thrown out that blob of convection to its west?
